Meet Jamila Collins. Bumblebeez girls founder. Join the Hive!

Jamila Collins is a native of Columbus, OH and a product of the Columbus City Schools and a proud 1997 graduate of Eastmoor High School. Jamila continued her education at the nation’s first privately black owned HBCU, Wilberforce University, where she majored in Business Marketing. Wilberforce laid the foundation and provided the training ground for everything she does today.
After graduating from college, Jamila began her career in corporate America with one of the nation’s largest financial institutions. During her tenure, she participated as a team member as well as led the African American Business Resource Group. She also served as a Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) mentor for the National Black MBA Association Columbus Chapter where she accompanied students to national conferences coaching them in national elections and competitions. It was during this time she discovered her purpose and true passion, mentoring. Since then, Jamila has committed her life to imparting a sense of self worth, knowledge and beauty that will inspire young ladies throughout their lives.
On January 4, 2014, Jamila stepped out on faith and launched Bumblebeez, a mentoring program for girls 10-13. The purpose of Bumblebeez is to provide young ladies with resources and information to combat the many social and emotional issues girls face daily using practical life skills heavily supported and rooted in Biblical principles. Through the organization, she provides young ladies with leadership; team-building skills and promotes
self-esteem through a series of workshops over a ten-month period. Bumblebeez is in its eight year of operation and has graduated 33 young ladies to date, graduating its largest cycle in December 2020.
Jamila holds positions in many community organizations, but none is greater than her role as mother to her only son, Justyn Harper. Together they enjoy roller skating and binge watching Marvel’s Comics movies and television series.
